Health and Wellness

Our Bodies are His Vessels.

Our bodies were created to give Him Glory and to further His Kingdom. We must first be born again in order to fulfill His call on our lives. We are beginning 2022 and can begin a new life by saying this: Jesus, thank you for dying for me and forgiving my sins.
Come into my heart and I thank you for your gift of salvation, being born again.
Walking in Divine health is part of His gift to us as a born again believer.  This is His Will for us in 2022. (ROM.10:13 and 1Peter 2:24) Our bodies were created to live off of living foods; however, most of us do not eat as we should.  Because of this, problems arise and 90% of all disease starts in the gut, according to Dr. Colbert. We are fearfully and wonderfully made and need to care of our vessel so we can honor Him. Gut health is so important, that fifty different patients could be suffering from five hundred different symptoms, while taking prescriptions, and if they all worked to restore their gut or immune system, most likely everyone of these patients could improve or be healed. Most symptoms/sickness/disease would disappear as well.
In Dr. Colbert’s book, Healthy Gut Zone  it has 5 Gut Power Tools that we will cover in the next letter or two. Our first Power tool for the gut is: FIBER.  Only 5% of Americans have adequate intake of fiber. Eating fruits with lots of sugars, will feed the bad bacteria in your gut and eating beans, peas, barley, whole wheat, bran, potatoes, also means you’re eating lectins, gluten, and starch. These are all not good for the gut wall. Veggies, berries, and psyllium husk powder is your best form of fiber without upsetting the gut flora. Start with a ¼ -1/2 cup of berries a day and ¼ tsp. of pysllium husk powder in a four-ounce glass of filtered water after breakfast, just once a day. Work up to twice a day, once after breakfast and after dinner.
Adequate fiber controls sugar levels, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, lowers risk of heart disease, hemorrhoids, and helps with bowel movements. We can now understand the importance of fiber. It comes in 2 forms: soluble and insoluble.

Soluble Fiber                                                     Insoluble Fiber
Dissolves in GI tractDoes not dissolve in GI tract
Absorbs water                              Passes through
Helps with digestionKeeps you regular
 Pushes food through tract

SourcesSources
Apples, barley, beans, oats & peas – (Usually not gut friendly)Beans, green beans, potatoes, wheat bran & wheat flour (All Usually not gut friendly)
Carrots & citrus fruits (usually gut friendly)Cauliflower & nuts (not peanuts or cashews) (gut friendly)
pysllium husk powder (gut friendly)

REMEMBER: Fiber is food for the good bacteria in the gut, especially the colon. Fiber and water do wonders for the gut, in bringing your body into balance.
The second power tool is PROBIOTICS. A good probiotic will feed the good bacteria in your gut biome. A few foods with probiotics are: Kimchi, kombucha, miso, pickles, sauerkraut, selected cheeses(Gouda, Mozarrella, cheddar, cottage[feta cheese preferred], traditional buttermilk and yogurt[goat milk and coconut milk yogurt is best]. These probiotics have a short shelf life in your gut but are effective and essential. Continued use is necessary and within a week, your gut bacteria will have changed for the better. Probiotics stop, kill, and limit bad bacteria and bacterial growth while strengthening your intestinal wall and improving your immune system.(which is mostly in your gut). Lastly, chew your food well, between 20-30 times, as under chewed food benefits the bad bacteria in your gut by NOT being well absorbed and becoming their food. Power tools three through five are coming soon.
