Miracle at work
“I work at a hospital and I do different kinds of testing on specimens. When specimens are brought to me they are set in a certain area depending on the type of test that needs to be run. Last week I was working under the hood and a coworker dropped of some specimens for me and set them on the counter. I went over to inspect the specimens to see what type of test needed to be done. I grabbed the appropriate test kit for the tests and proceeded to run them. As I was resulting the tests, I realized that I had made two irreversible mistakes.
First, I ran the wrong test. There are two test codes that begin with R, and I mistakenly grabbed the wrong R test kits. Secondly, both of the samples came from the same source! This is called a reflexive test, meaning if the first test comes out negative, a second, alternate test is performed on the second specimen. I didn’t read the source on the specimens because normally my coworkers will announce that the two specimens are for a reflexive test – but this time they did not and I just ran them both assuming they were separate sources.
Needless to say, I had to call the provider and have the specimens recollected. This was especially complicated because the specimens were originally collected in-house earlier in the day. Calling the provider to have the specimen recollected would mean that the young patient needed to come back to the hospital or the clinic again, and this particular specimen collection isn’t a very pleasant experience. So I called the provider but at the time she was busy and couldn’t take the call. I took my dinner break and repented to the Lord for my carelessness. It certainly wasn’t intentional, yet it was my responsibility to make sure all labeling is correct before testing. I asked Jesus to intercede on my behalf and to make right what had gone wrong. I prayed in the spirit for a few minutes and then decided in my heart that it was finished. At that point there was nothing I could do to correct the situation, and I just knew that God would fight the battle for me, as He promises in His word. I knew He would avenge me.
When I returned from break I called the provider again, and she informed me that the patient was at the clinic just a few minutes before I called the second time and for blood work to be drawn. She knew that the patient was at the hospital earlier in the day for some tests, but did not see that the test I ran had been ordered, so she recollected for it automatically. Now this is nearly impossible, because the test had already been resulted, so there is no way that it was not in the computer. And the fact that the patient was at the clinic later in the day after already being at the hospital for testing is unusual. The specimen that I needed recollected, two of them, had been recollected within a half hour of my prayer. Now that’s miraculous. Praise God for His Faithfulness, Mercy and Provision!
