The Maker's Diet Support Group, an outreach of the Health & Wellness ministry of El Shaddai Christian Fellowship, meets on the 2nd Monday of each month from 6:30pm-8:00pm.
In the introduction to Jordan's Rubin's book, The Maker's Diet, he says,
This book may dramatically change and improve your life if
1. You want to avoid disease and live as healthy as possible with abundant energy and improved physical appearance.
2. You are suffering from disease, feel hopeless, and doubt if you will ever get well, and all of the specialists you have seen offer no answers.
The Maker's Diet focuses on eating foods that are outlined in the Word of God to improve and maintain health. Jordan explains in his book that the epicenter of health is the gastrointestinal tract, where the foods that a person eats are broken down, nutrients are absorbed and waste is eliminated. If waste material remains in the bowels too long, it begins to generate toxins that leach into the bloodstream and poison the body leading to sickness and disease.
One of the guidelines of the Maker's Diet is to avoid all processed food. If you can't pick it out of the ground and eat it, then God didn't make it - man altered it. The Maker's Diet incorporates organic foods, sprouted seeds and grains, fermented foods, raw foods and milk, and the importance of filtered water. Join the Maker's Diet Support Group to learn how to make your own dressings, soup broths, soak raw grains and nuts, reduce use of the microwave in food preparation, prepare fermented foods, replace white sugar with rapider sugar, bleached flour with spelt or wheat, and how to use raw honey as a natural sweetener.
Members of the ESCF church family have taken the Maker's Diet to varying levels. Many have followed the principles of the book closely and have participated in the 40-day health experience. Others incorporate many of the principles of the program into their lives and continue to modify their lifestyles to come into agreement with the Maker's Diet based on the Word of God.
